Tottenham Refuse to Give Up on Como Star Nico Paz

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of landing Nico Paz are alive and kicking, with fresh developments suggesting the door isn’t completely closed on a dramatic late-window swoop.

Spurs are working overtime in the final days of the transfer window, determined to bring in both a winger and a playmaker. With Son Heung-min now at LAFC, Manchester City’s Savinho remains a top target out wide — but it’s the chase for a new No.10 that has the fanbase anxiously waiting to see who they bring in.

From Eze to Paz

After Arsenal snatched Eberechi Eze from under their noses, Tottenham switched focus to Como sensation Nico Paz. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs even tabled a huge €70 million offer — add-ons included — for the Argentine-born starlet.

Initial reports suggested Paz had decided to stay put for another year, with a romantic return to Real Madrid on the cards in 2026. But the story has taken another twist.

Como Owner Lifts the Lid

Speaking to Corriere della Sera, Como owner Mirwan Suwarso insisted that no formal bid had been rejected outright, pointing to the complications of Real Madrid’s buy-back clause:

“It’s not true that we rejected the offer. No one formalises an offer knowing that then we should send them to Real Madrid, who have the right to match.”

Suwarso also revealed that the teenager still dreams of playing at the Bernabeu one day:

“There was a moment when we feared Nico might return to Madrid: he grew up in Real Madrid’s youth academy and dreams of playing at the Bernabeu one day. Luckily, he stayed.”

Why Spurs Won’t Walk Away

For Tottenham, Suwarso’s comments offer a glimmer of hope. Real Madrid aren’t currently looking to add more attackers before the deadline, leaving a potential opening for Daniel Levy and company to strike late.

And there’s no questioning Paz’s pedigree. The 19-year-old racked up six goals and nine assists in 35 appearances for Como last season, pulling strings in an advanced midfield role. With James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski both sidelined, he could walk straight into Ange Postecoglou’s side and add the spark Spurs have been missing.

The biggest stumbling block remains Real Madrid. Los Blancos retain a 50% stake in any future sale and are in ongoing talks with Como over reducing their influence. For Tottenham, that means any deal could quickly get messy if Madrid decide to flex their muscle.

One to Watch

Even so, Spurs are not giving up. The North London club have made their interest crystal clear, and with just days left before the window slams shut, there’s every chance this story still has a twist or two to come.

Fans should keep their eyes peeled — because if Tottenham are serious about adding a marquee No.10, Nico Paz could yet be the name making headlines on deadline day.
