Dreaming Big: The World Cup and National Team Bonds
Estevao's passion for representing Brazil shines through in his comments on the World Cup, which he views as the ultimate pinnacle for any player.
"Totally, man. I think every player's biggest goal is the World Cup. It's the most important tournament," he enthused in a recent Globo Esporte interview. He elaborated on his development at Chelsea as a stepping stone: "I think I'm developing now at Chelsea; I'm getting the opportunity and taking advantage of it. We do dream of a World Cup, we dream and we're working. Every day I try to learn as much as possible here and at Chelsea to further develop my football. And, consequently, if everything goes well, a call-up would be a dream come true."
Despite being called up to the Seleção five times, Estevao sees this as just the beginning. His integration into the national team has been smooth, thanks to strong relationships with teammates.
"The relationship here with everyone is really good, you know? Of course, we're closer to JoĂŁo (Pedro) and Andrey, because we're together every day there (at Chelsea). Regarding the older players, Marquinhos is a guy who's been helping me a lot. Alisson, Raphinha, PaquetĂĄ, Bruno GuimarĂŁes... These guys are helping me a lot in this early stage of the Brazilian national team."
These bonds have been crucial, especially after standout moments like scoring against Chile during an international breakâmarking the first such goal for a Brazilian since Pele 67 years agoâand netting at the iconic Maracana Stadium, which he described as one of the "happiest moments of my life."
Estevao's rapid rise with Brazil underscores his maturity beyond his years, blending youthful exuberance with a grounded appreciation for mentorship from veterans.

Seamless Start at Chelsea: Adaptation, Fans, and On-Field Realities
Transitioning to Chelsea has been a whirlwind for Estevao, but one he's embraced wholeheartedly.
"It's been incredible! I'm loving Chelsea, I'm loving London. I don't think it could be better," he shared. Addressing the initial apprehensions of moving abroad, he added, "We're always apprehensive, right? Moving to another country, being farther away from my family, who are back in Franca. But it's been incredible, God is blessing me. Wow, I think it's the happiest moment of my life."
The warmth from Chelsea's community has exceeded his expectations. When asked about fans singing his name shortly after arrival, he laughed,
"No (laughs). I only heard 'EstĂȘvĂŁo,' the little song... but the affection I see the fans have for meânot just them, but the coaching staff, everyone at Chelseaâis incredible! Since I arrived, I've felt at home. So, I just thank God for everything."
This instant connection has made Stamford Bridge feel like home, with Estevao featuring in all three Premier League matches so far, starting two and earning praise from teammates like Marc Cucurella.
His quick integration into the first teamâmore opportunities than anticipatedâstems from diligent preparation and trust from manager Enzo Maresca.
"It's happening very quickly, and I'm already getting a lot of opportunities there, more than I even expected at Chelsea. But I think it's the result of the hard work and dedication I've maintained in training. Maresca has a lot of confidence in me to play, even arriving in a new league, in a new country. I try to repay that on the field by giving my all," he explained.
Factors like the milder weather and longer daylight hours have aided his settling in:
"And this adaptation has been incredible. I thought it would take a little longer to adapt, because of the climate and the language. But, thank God, it's happening very quickly. I'm already getting used to the language well. The climate there has helped a lot during the three weeks I've been there, because it's not cold, it's hot. It's getting dark by nine o'clock at night. So, I think that was crucial for me too, for my adaptation. And I really thank God, man. It's been really, really, really good, I'm loving it."
The physical demands of English football present a unique challenge, with Estevao noting the intensity:
"Thank God, itâs flowing. But the intensity of the games, the way the game is played is very different from here. There itâs more intense, the game is physically stronger than here. Iâm still getting used to it, Iâm adapting, but, thank God, everything is going well."
He's already noticing personal growth: "Definitely. Iâm already seeing a lot of improvement in my football, because there it demands a lot from you and itâs all the time. The game doesnât stop. You have to stay as alert as possible in the game, you canât relax. Because there itâs very hard to score a goal, because there are many high-quality players, so itâs demanding more from me, but Iâm definitely learning a lot."
One key strategy Estevao employs is avoiding unnecessary physical confrontations, a tactic honed for the Premier League's pace and power:
âNo, because I know how to avoid contact a lot, I try to avoid it a lot, right? Because the player ends up going at high speed, and the players there are much stronger, theyâre faster tooâŠâ While acknowledging the benefits of building strength, he prioritizes his natural style: âOf course, itâs important to gain muscle strength, to gain mass, but I see it as⊠itâs important, but not fundamental. But I want to further improve my speed, my playing style, because thank God Iâm getting the opportunity, Iâm able to play well the way I am, light, calm, but knowing that I have a lot to improve too.â
For preparation, he relies heavily on Chelsea's top-tier facilities:
"I definitely do some work outside the club. Now I'm starting with the team in London, which is helping me a lot, and they have several players. Having this work there is important too, but I'm leaving practically everything at the club. My club offers everything I need to be the best. Chelsea has all the facilities possible, so I'm making the most of it, trying to adapt as quickly as possible."
Looking Ahead: A Bright Future
Estevao Willian's quotes paint a picture of a young player not just surviving but thriving in his dual roles at club and country. His humility, faith, and work ethic shine through, positioning him as a potential cornerstone for both Chelsea and Brazil.
As he continues to dazzle on the pitchâdespite upcoming scheduling conflicts with international dutiesâthe football world watches eagerly. If his early trajectory holds, Estevao's dreams of World Cup glory may soon become reality.
